Train
Route: Metro line S5 (S-Bahn) will get you right into the downtown area of Hannover. You can get on the train at Terminal C. The train is the easiest way to get to the city center and old town from the airport and it's quite simple to pop into Terminal C from other areas of the airport.
Fare: The fare will be around $4-$15 depending on the train that you select and the level of comfort that you pick for your trip.
Bus
Route: You can ride bus line 470 from the airport to downtown. The route will not have very many stops on its way to the city center. You get on the bus at Maritim Airport Hotel and Parking Garage P3 near Terminal C.
Fare: This bus ride will cost about $3.40.
Taxi
There are plenty of taxi stands outside of each entrance and exit to the airport. The cost of the fare can vary but you should expect to pay $30-$40 for this trip. Rideshares also pick people up in roughly the same area outside the terminals and are often cheaper than taxis. Travel by car can be impacted significantly by rush hour, so be sure that you think about this before opting to travel by car rather than bus or train to the city center.
