Bergamo sits northeast of Milan in the Lombardy region and is part of Italy’s industrial heartland. As a result, Bergamo doesn’t always get the same attention as other iconic Italian destinations like Florence or Venice. But, in a country as busy with tourists as Italy can sometimes be, Bergamo offers a chance to get off the well-worn tourist trail and see an authentic side of this popular country.
As is the case with many European cities, Bergamo’s train station is ideally placed to explore the city. Located in the heart of town, it’s situated close to historic areas like the Citta Alta, or Old City, that most tourists like to visit. Other famous Bergamo attractions are easily accessible thanks to the train station’s well connected transit system.
Opened in 1854, the train station connects Bergamo with towns throughout the region and the rest of the country. Express trains to Milan stop here, as do regional trains to destinations such as Brescia and Pisa. Bergamo's ATB bus line 1 also stops at the station, connecting the train station to both the airport and the Old City. Wherever you decide to venture, keep your suitcases or backpack stored at a Bergamo luggage storage spot so you don’t have to drag your things around all day.
Yes, you’ll find luggage storage facilities by the left exit of the train station. They have designated opening hours from 7am to 8pm and charge €6.00 for the first 5 hours of storage, with additional fees for every hour after that. The Bergamo bus station, which is situated close by, also has self-serve storage lockers inside.
Another alternative to leaving your personal belongings at the train station or in luggage lockers is to use our luggage storage service. We offer convenient luggage storage in Bergamo, with many locations scattered around the city. Our partners are found in local shops, businesses and hotels near tourist attractions or transit hubs, like train stations.
We charge one affordable price for the entire day and don’t have any size or weight restrictions, unlike most station lockers or similar baggage storage spots. We also charge the same prices for storing small bags and big ones. Use our app to book luggage storage at the Bounce location near your adventure.
The Old City is indisputably the main draw of Bergamo. And while you're in town, it's well worth exploring the cobblestone streets and atmospheric buildings of this historic settlement. But there's more to Bergamo than just its history. Exploration of the city can start the minute you get off the train. Drop off any unnecessary belongings and stop by one of these attractions as soon as you arrive.

Immerse yourself in local history at the Torre dei Caduti, or Tower of the Fallen. This clock tower commemorates the soldiers from the town who were killed during World War I. A small exhibition tells the story of the soldiers and of the town, and the observation deck at the top of the tower offers an unsurpassed view of Bergamo. The tower is only a short 11 minute walk away from Bergamo Train Station.
Since the Torre dei Caduti has a museum, it’s wise to check their bag policy before you visit. They don’t state if bags are allowed inside on their website, but if you’re planning on climbing to the top of the tower it’s not a great idea to bring a heavy bag or suitcase with you. Store luggage at one of our convenient locations for a few hours while you visit the tower to save yourself the hassle.
