About Dublin Airport

Ireland is one of the world’s most beloved travel destinations, and not just for Americans of Irish descent. There's plenty of cultural and historical appeal for just about anyone. With centuries of fascinating and at times challenging history to unpack, history buffs flock to the Irish capital of Dublin. For foodies and partiers, it's even better as Dublin’s streets are lined with traditional Irish pubs, along with a burgeoning contemporary restaurant scene.

Dublin Airport serves the Irish capital along with the rest of the country as it is a major hub for international connections to North America and the rest of Europe. Irish carriers like Aer Lingus and Ryanair are based out of Dublin, but most major airlines have some presence at Dublin Airport. Situated outside the city center, it's fairly accessible from central Dublin via buses and cabs.

If you want to explore the city center for a few hours on a layover or before you head to the hotel, finding a place to store the bags can go a long way. That's why Bounce is so popular in Dublin. With dozens of Dublin luggage storage locations, you'll have an easy time finding a secure storage facility near the airport and travel hotspots.

How to find luggage storage near Dublin Airport

  • Before your trip, the map-based search function allows you to search for the most convenient location for where you're heading. In fact, you can even search and book once you arrive at the airport.
  • You can plug in your details and book in minutes. You'll receive an instant confirmation code.
  • When you get to your storage spot in Dublin, simply show the QR confirmation code to the attendant. Dropping the bags off will be secure and cashless because you pay online.

How to get from Dublin Airport to the city

Dublin doesn’t have as expansive of a public transportation network as other European capitals, but there are a few alternatives to the $50 cab ride to the city center.

Train connections from DUB to the City Center

Dublin Airport doesn’t have any rail or metro connections, but there are a few shuttles and public bus routes that can get you to Dublin Connolly and Dublin Heuston Stations.

Bus transportation from DUB to the City Center

While trains are certainly lacking in Dublin, buses are not. Coach buses are the most common transportation method for travelers, and getting to and from the airport is no different. Dublin Airport is served by dozens of public and private bus lines heading to the city center.

  • Airlink Express #41: This bus will stop at Santry, Whitehall, Drumcondra, and (most importantly) multiple stops in Dublin city center.
  • Airlink Express #16: This is one of the most frequently used bus routes for tourists as it leads directly to the city center.
  • Dublin Express: This runs nonstop to Heuston Railway Station, which is where you can transfer to trains headed towards major destinations like Cork, Waterford, Limerick, and Galway.
  • Aircoach: This company’s #747 service stops at Upper O'Connell Street in the city center (40-minute trip).
  • City Bus #41: This 24/7 route heads from the airport directly to the city center and leaves every 20 minutes. The trip to central Dublin takes less than an hour.

Points of interest

  • Dublin Castle: This historic landmark is reachable through the Airport Express in 50 minutes, with a short walk from Wellington Quay.
  • Temple Bar: Europe’s most popular nightlife quarter is just half an hour away from the airport via the Dublin Express Bus.
  • Guinness Storehouse: The iconic Brewery’s home is directly connected with the Airport via the Airport Express Bus (45 minutes).
  • Grafton Street: Dublin’s top shopping destination can be reached via the Airport Express in 45 minutes (with a transfer to the Green Line Tram at Aston Quay O'Connell Bridge).
  • Trinity College Dublin: It takes just over 30 minutes via the Dublin Express to reach the main campus.
