Convenient Plaza Mayor luggage storage
Madrid's Plaza Mayor, although situated in the heart of the capital’s cramped city center, is an expansive Central Square, offering visitors and locals an open space to soak in the sun and get some fresh air. It's flanked by some of the city’s most opulent architecture and provides a lovely backdrop and shopping through its arcades.
There are plenty of Madrid’s top attractions within walking distance, including Puerta del Sol and the Casa de la Carnicería, all of which boast well-preserved Romanesque architecture. You’ll notice the aptly named Casa de la Panadería in the corner of the square. It dates back to the 16th century and was once Madrid’s primary bakery.
The beloved statue of King Philip III of the Spanish Royal family looms in the background and makes for an excellent selfie. Depending on the timing of your trip, you could find Plaza Mayor decked out as the city’s top Christmas market, with even the elegant Royal Palace fitted in colorful Christmas lights.
Plaza Mayor’s location near other attractions and useful transit connections make it a great place to start your Madrid adventure, so you may want to find a place to stash your bag for a few hours.
