The Osaka Airport is the first airport built on a completely man-made island in the world. The Kansai International Airport is the only airport to service this part of Japan, and as a result, it is very busy. It also takes longer to get from the airport to the downtown area due to the location of the airport. You will find that there are many pleasant things to do inside the airport itself during a layover, but it might be tempting to head out into the city and check out what Osaka has to offer during your layover. As long as you have an hour of travel time to devote to getting to and from the airport, it is worth leaving Kansai Airport to head out and check out the sights.
There are luggage storage lockers at the airport, but there is no security for your bags when you choose this storage option. Bounce's handy app can help you find the storage service location that is closest to the airport with ease.
Yes, a Kansai Airport baggage service is available but it's in the form of lockers. You can store luggage at the airport for a limited number of days, but storage space here is not protected and is typically self-service only. Bounce can offer you access to concierge pickup and drop-off for your storage needs, whether you are headed to Kansai Airport or you are looking for Osaka Airport luggage storage.
There are luggage lockers at the station, but you will want to make sure to check out the luggage storage options offered by Bounce. We can ensure that your baggage service experience is pleasant and affordable no matter where you are in the world.
If you walk to platforms 1 and 2 from the airport terminal, you will be able to get on the train to Osaka from the airport. You will take the Nankai-Kuko Line Airport Express towards Nankai-Namba which takes 45 minutes. You will then transfer to the Midosuji Line Local towards Senrichuo at Namba Station. This part of the trip takes ten minutes. You will get off the train at Umeda Station to access the downtown area.
This is probably the fastest way to get to the city center from the airport. You will simply catch a taxi at the taxi stand at the airport. The ride takes 38 minutes and costs ¥19000 - ¥24000. Taxi travel times can be impacted by rush hour and various other considerations and are not as predictable as train times.
Located about 15 minutes from the airport, this charming town offers you access to lots of fun things to do and see as well as access to Sennan Marble Beach. The beach is formed almost entirely of white stones that look like marbles, so it's worth checking out. There are also fair-style rides like a Ferris wheel to enjoy and lots of shops if you want to fill your shopping bag while you are waiting for your flight.
This park has a real Zen-style garden as well as lots of walking paths and beautiful lawns. When the weather is nice, you will see many locals laying out and enjoying the sun here. The Osaka Tennoji Zoo is also located within the park, and there are giraffes and lions here to see as well as lots of interactive exhibits dedicated to the wildlife that live at the zoo. Kids and adults will both have a great time here getting some energy out or just sitting down and watching the world go by.
This temple is one of the oldest in Japan and it is worth checking out. The serene white and blue color of the many-tiered roof and the lovely grounds offer an immediate sense of peace to those who visit. The Gokurakujodo Garden outside the temple is inspiring and lovely and the temple itself offers some information about the history of the temple and Japanese shrines as a whole. This is one of the most beautiful locations in the area and you will want to make sure to make time to visit this site of interest during your layover.
When it was built nearly 500 years ago, it was the biggest castle in Japan. The castle was actually built after the bombings of WWII, but it is designed to look like it has been around for much longer. The skyscrapers all around the castle make this area of the city an interesting fusion of new and old technology that really resonates with many travelers. The castle was established on the site of the ancient Osaka Honganji Temple. The moat, fortifications, and most of the gates into the grounds of the castle date back to the Tokugawa period.
There is luggage storage at the castle, but Bounce can offer you easy-to-access storage service locations near the castle site. You can easily book online and store your items centrally and then head out with peace of mind to see the sights and sounds of Osaka.
There are few shopping streets and squares in Japan that are as famous as Dotonbori. The famous Glico Man sign is located here, and at night, the square and the surrounding streets are lit up by a myriad of amazing neon signs and advertisements. This is also the perfect place to head if you love Japanese street food and want to enjoy the cuisine of some of the best street food vendors in the world. Many people all over the world are familiar with images of this square and the surrounding area, so it is worth it to head over to Dotonbori to visit it in person during your trip.
