Convenient Murano luggage storage

While most visitors fixate on destinations like Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, there are a few places on the periphery of the Venetian Lagoon well worth the short boat ride. The cluster of islands around Piazza San Marco are the main tourist districts of Venice, but there's another set of islands just north that offer thinner crowds and fascinating sightseeing.

Murano is the slightly smaller and slightly more interesting cousin to central Venice, with a tiny population of about 5,000. It's far enough away from the islands around San Marco that there are no bridges connecting Murano with the other islands or the mainland. This gives it a remote feeling that's impossible to replicate. Still, all the comforts of Venetian culture are on offer. There are more than a few superb trattorias and other types of restaurants showcasing Venetian cuisine, and you'll have an easy time finding a café or bar for an aperitivo hour.

The importance of Murano’s glass-making heritage can’t be overstated, and taking a tour of a factory or the Glass Museum is a great way to learn about this ancient art, and how it shaped the history of Venice. The Basilica of Saints Maria and Donato is another highlight, with a fascinating mythology behind its curious decor. This gorgeous Roman church features an ornate altar beneath the skeletal remains of a dragon (scientific authorities have identified them as whale bones).

If you're planning on heading to Murano from the airport or are popping over from the main islands for an afternoon, you may want to find a place to store your bags for a few hours while you poke around. Bounce is the most convenient luggage storage option in Venice, and that includes Murano. You'll have an easy time finding a secure storage spot and the drop-off process is effortless.

Getting to Murano

Murano is the most remote part of Venice but it's still accessible from the rest of the city and mainland via ferry or water taxi. It takes less than 20 minutes to get from a hotspot like Piazza San Marco or Piazza Roma to the main stretch of Murano.

Vaporetto is the most fun (and convenient) way to get to Murano

You're not traveling all the way to the Venetian Lagoon to not be around water. Luckily, the cheapest and most common way to get around Venice and Murano is the Vaporetto, or public water buses. There are multiple routes that pass through Central Venice and make stops at Murano.

  • Line 4.2: Reaches Murano from Ferrovia and Piazzale Roma in 35 min.
  • Line 3: Departs Piazzale Roma every 30 minutes and will get you to every Murano stop in about 25 minutes.
  • Line 4.1: Runs from the San Marco Monumento Pier and reaches Murano in about 20 minutes. Also runs from Fondamente Nove to Murano in 8 minutes
  • Line 7: Departs the Jolanda Pier and runs through Murano’s stops in about 25 minutes.

Getting to Murano from Venice train stations

Venezia Mestre Centro is the primary train station for long-distance routes and is the most common transit facility used for international travelers. It's on the mainland, so there are some logistics involved with getting out to Murano. You can take the 4L Bus from Venezia to Piazzale Roma then hop on the 4.2 Ferry to Murano Venier. The whole trip should take about an hour.

Getting to Murano from Venice Marco Polo Airport

It takes about 50 minutes to reach Murano from Marco Polo Airport. You can take the B Ferry (or the Alilaguna Water Bus) directly to the island from the airport.

For the modern traveler, the best storage option for luggage storage in Murano is easily Bounce. Our inventive features and simplified booking process make it a breeze to find a place to store your bags while you jet around the Venetian Lagoon or other epic travel destinations.
