What to Expect When Attending Portland Rose Festival 2025

The Portland Rose Festival kicks off with a spectacular Opening Night & Fireworks Show on May 23. The fireworks will light up the sky around 9:45 p.m. To enjoy stunning views, take a ride on the Ferris wheel at CityFair, a festival that unfolds over three weekends at Waterfront Park in downtown Portland. CityFair offers carnival rides, delicious food and beer, live music, and a featured performer known to ignite the party.

On May 31, get ready for one of the biggest highlights: the Starlight Parade, a dazzling nighttime procession featuring illuminated floats, marching bands, and costumed performers. 

The Hollywood District will host the Fred Meyer Junior Parade on June 4. This parade is so much fun! Children across Portland participate by wearing costumes, converting wagons into floats, embellishing bikes with colorful flowers, or simply parading alongside friends and family.

The Grand Floral Parade is the grandest of all the upcoming events at the festival! It takes place on June 7, starting at 10 am. For two miles, Portlanders and visitors will follow a path that leads through Portland's east-side city streets.

Every year, high schools around the Portland metro area come together to select a Rose Festival Court. Each princess proudly represents her school and her community. These amazing young women engage in volunteer activities, public speaking events, and festival happenings while competing for the title of Rose Festival Queen. Once crowned, the Rose Festival Queen joyfully steps into her role as an ambassador for the festival and the city of Portland.
