American Family Field, Phoenix, AZ

Imagine a ballpark that has the allure of a big league stadium, from its classic field to its impressive size and fans who are always cheering their team on. Visiting American Family Field in Phoenix, AZ provides that exact experience. But wait, you may be thinking Phoenix doesn't have a Major League Baseball team and you'd be right, this is the spring training facility for the Milwaukee Brewers. Thanks to its warm year-round climate, Phoenix is the perfect second home for the Brewers and gives fans a great chance to watch MLB-caliber action.

If you're planning to visit Phoenix in the spring, then you're in luck because the city is treated to a mini-season of baseball. Milwaukee Brewers games don't just draw the locals in, but also die-hard fans who are anxious to escape the often chilly Milwaukee early-spring weather. And because this is a spring training facility, tickets tend to be easier to get.

Whether you're in Phoenix for a short layover, or a longer trip, this is a great place with so much to do. Other highlights to check out include the Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Garden, and the Arizona Science Center. Phoenix has also made a name for itself in the golf and spa industries. For those staying in the downtown core, you'll also be within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Additional Rules and Policies at American Family Field

There are a few additional rules and policies that guests should be aware of before reaching the venue.

American Family Field Transportation

Driving to the stadium is a great option for visitors. There is plenty of parking, and it's relatively affordable compared to typical MLB ballparks. Parking lots open three hours before the first pitch or scheduled start of the game. From the parking lot, you'll be able to walk to the venue. You can also pre-purchase parking passes. Once you have a parking pass you know you're guaranteed a spot.

If you’re staying downtown or nearby, Uber and Lyft are the most convenient options.

Phoenix does have public transportation options, like buses or light rail, that can take you close to the stadium, but these aren’t very convenient and can involve spending extended periods in the sun and heat waiting for buses.

Whether it's a Brewers game or another event, gates open 90 minutes before the scheduled start every day except Saturday. On Saturdays, gates open two hours in advance, which lets you enjoy the pre-game atmosphere.

American Family Field Outside Food and Beverage Policy

If you want to bring your own food and drinks into the venue, there are some rules. Personal-size food items such as a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and small bags of pretzels are allowed. You can also bring sealed bottles of juice, water, or soda that don't exceed 32 oz.

Guests don't usually bring food though because there are so many tasty food offerings inside the venue. You can easily find a concession stand and those in the PNC Club Level have in-seat service.

All outside alcoholic beverages are denied entry, but you can purchase alcohol inside. Be sure to arrive early if you want drinks and food before the first pitch, as there are many concession stands to browse. You can visit the Brewers guest relations kiosks to find specific food options and other features in the venue.

American Family Field Camera Policy

You can bring a camera to the stadium, but professional equipment isn't allowed. Your camera can't have a lens longer than 8". Items that are banned include tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, and GoPros.

Cashless Venue

This is a cashless venue, which means you'll need to use a debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. If you only have cash on you, be sure to use the reverse ATMs throughout the building to convert cash to a prepaid card.

Miller Lite Promo

If you happen to have tickets for a Friday home game and are sitting in the Miller Lite Beerpen, you'll get a free Brewers can holder.

Prohibited items

Items that won't be allowed in the venue whether it's during batting practice or the game include luggage, drones, video cameras, firearms, whistles, laser points, and pets unless they are service animals.
