About the Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Known as Kyoto’s “Pure Water Temple,” Kiyomizu-dera (or Kiyomizudera) is one of the most revered Buddhist temples in the world. It’s situated in the foothills of the mountains east of central Kyoto and has a magnificently beautiful waterfall in the backdrop. Its most notable feature has to be the wooden platform that provides stunning views of the surrounding topography, especially the hills covered in thick groves of cherry trees that are impossibly beautiful during cherry blossom season.
Without question, this place is well-deserving of its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. It’s important to remember that this temple is first and foremost a place of worship and contemplation, so observing proper customs and etiquette is advisable and respectful. If you’re also looking to explore Kiomizu Dera, the various other temple buildings, and Kyoto City Center, luggage storage makes sense. There are plenty of major landmarks and attractions in Kyoto, which translates to Capital City. Kyoto Imperial Palace and Kyoto Tower are just a few, along with an exceptional restaurant scene - especially the tea houses.
The city is situated just a short train ride away from Kiyomizu Gojo Station, which sits at the base of the hill and connects the temple with the rest of Kyoto and beyond. You’ll be able to rely on convenient Kyoto luggage storage through Bounce for both exploring the city and visiting the temple.
