San Diego County Fair 2025
Let's rejoice in the special bonds between us and our loyal companions!
Pets rock for many reasons! The San Diego County Fair celebrates our snuggle buddies and adventure partners with a lot of special events that capture the essence of this unique friendship.
The San Diego County Fair was established in 1880 as an agricultural fair to present livestock, crops, and farming innovations. Initially hosted at different venues around San Diego County, the fair settled at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 1936 and has been held there every year since. Over time, the event evolved beyond its agricultural roots to become one of Southern California's largest and most anticipated summer fairs.
Here's one fun fact for you! A beloved symbol of the fair is Don Diego Hernandez, a well-known local figure who served as the fair's goodwill ambassador for decades. Now, his statue, with the iconic Spanish-style outfit, stands near the entrance and remains a popular meeting spot and photo landmark for fairgoers.
All animal enthusiasts are invited to the Del Mar Fairgrounds from June 11 to July 6! Join the fun!
What to Expect When Attending San Diego County Fair 2025
The fair adopts a unique theme each year to enhance its exhibits and entertainment. Past themes have ranged from Mad About the Fair to Heroes Reunite and, for 2025, it's Summer Pet-tacular. This new theme suggests that the Dog Days of Summer will turn into the Cat's Meow. Interestingly, this means that what might normally be just another hot summer will instead be transformed into something extraordinary, fun, and spectacular—especially for pet lovers!
No matter if you have a furry friend, a scaly sidekick, or a feathered flock, all pets are in the spotlight here! During this period, you can enjoy numerous attractions and events, from livestock competitions and cooking demonstrations to live concerts and extreme stunt shows. Incredible exhibits, challenging games, thrilling rides, mouth-watering food, and so much more await you!
Expect creative and over-the-top food items unique to the fair. The fair is famous for its wild food creations, including deep-fried Kool-Aid, bacon-wrapped pickles, and even deep-fried Starbucks coffee!
You can look forward to very pleasant weather! In June, the average high temperature will range from about 69 F to 73 F (21 C to 23 C), and the low temperature will be around 62 F to 65 F (17 C to 18 C). In July, high temperatures usually range from 74 F to 76 F (23 C to 24 C), and the average low temperature is between 65 F and 67 F (18 C to 19 C).
