What to Expect When Attending Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2025

Each year, this event features a different theme. This year's theme is Secrets of Africa.

The Main Parade is held on March 4. It's followed by the Burial of the Sardine, a humorous festival event when a giant sardine effigy is paraded through the streets and "burned," followed by exaggerated mourning.

Piñata Sunday is scheduled to close the festivities with street parties, food stalls, and many family-friendly activities like games, performers, and piñata-breaking fun.

• Car: The TF-1 motorway from the south and the TF-5 from the north lead directly to Santa Cruz. Parking will be limited during carnival days, so plan to arrive early or use park-and-ride facilities.
