The coastline surrounding Sydney is lined with idyllic surf towns and coastal retreats that are perfect for taking a break from the cosmopolitan Sydney CBD. One of the top destinations is Manly Beach, which provides all the comforts of a remote coastal town while only being a 30-minute ferry ride from Sydney Harbour.
Manly offers miles of beachfront with both approachable swimming and peak surfing conditions making it a destination for families and outdoorsy travelers. Surfing is a pastime here for both locals and visitors. And as a destination, it's even considered the birthplace of Australian surfing culture. The town itself is as charming as you’ll find. Manly Promenade, connected to the wonderful Corso stretch, offers shopping and dining options that match even Sydney’s.
If you need luggage storage near Manly, Bounce has convenient locations serving the best areas. This is ideal for storing your bags safely while you hit the beach, take a short ferry ride elsewhere, or explore the promenade.
Reaching Manly Beach is part of the appeal. The quickest way to get to Manly is by ferry and you'll be able to catch glimpses of Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House while your ferry swifts you to this fascinating part of Sydney. If you're renting a car to explore other parts of New South Wales or are staying in Sydney for an extended period, you can drive to Manly and park, but even this will take longer than a ferry from Sydney’s waterfront.
Other forms of public transportation are not much of a factor in getting here. Walking around Manly Beach or renting a bike are the most common ways to get around, and this makes Bounce's storage points in town all the more useful.
Buses depart Sydney CBD every day for Manly and other destinations across the Northern Beaches. The B-Line bus from Wynyard Station is the most common route, but this can take well over an hour and is nowhere near as scenic a ride as the ferry.
The Sydney Harbour Hopper, Manly Ferry, and Sydney Ferries operate efficient boats, running from the Sydney waterfront out to Manly and other Northern Beaches. This is the most common method of reaching Manly from Sydney as it will pick you up from Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo, and Watsons Bay and will be routed directly to Manly Wharf. These rides generally take 20 to 30 minutes.
Once you've reached Manly, you can quickly get around the peninsula via Manly’s Hop Skip and Jump Bus.
This area is fairly remote, which makes it difficult to reach from the airport via public transportation. You’ll want to head directly from the airport to Circular Quay to board a ferry bound for Manly. Otherwise, you can take an hour-long taxi ride directly from the airport to reach the northern suburbs.
